Cook selected for Warner Pacific presidency


PORTLAND — Andrea Cook was unanimously selected as the seventh president of Warner Pacific College by the school’s trustees on Nov. 14. An experienced university administrator, Cook came to the college in 2005 as vice president for advancement and has been serving in the role of interim president since June 2008, following the retirement of former president Jay Barber.
Cook holds a master’s of science in educational policy and management and a doctorate of philosophy in educational policy and management from the University of Oregon. She gained her leadership experience while serving in various administrative roles at Judson Baptist College in Portland, the University of Ore-gon, George Fox University and Goshen (Ind.) College prior to her role at Warner Pacific.
Cook has spent her entire 30-year career in various positions of higher education.
“(Dr. Cook’s) deep faith in God and earnest seeking of His calling have led her to this point in her career and the board is extremely confident that she is the individual God has anointed to lead our institution,” said Jim Teague, chairman of the Warner Pacific board of trustees.
Established in 1937 and located in the heart of Portland on the southern slope of Mount Tabor, Warner Pacific is affiliated with the Church of God (Anderson, Ind.).
Warner Pacific offers 24 majors, 28 minors, six graduate programs and four pre-professional programs.
