Corban College to
become university
SALEM — Corban College and Graduate School will officially change its name to Corban University on May 1. The change will reflect the restructuring work at Corban that has been taking place since 2008.
Corban currently has three graduate programs, all growing faster than original projections. With continual, robust growth of the business administration and education graduate programs, launched just five-and-a-half years ago, and a strong start of the graduate counseling program in fall 2009, the change to university status will come sooner than originally anticipated.
Transitioning to Corban University also will coincide with the college’s 75th anniversary, marking the school’s growth from a fledgling Bible institute in 1935 to a Christian university.
For much of its existence it was known as Western Baptist College, before adopting the Corban name several years ago.
Corban is an independent Christian educational institution in Salem with more than 50 majors and programs of study including professional, liberal arts, and ministries. Traditional and adult degree completion programs at the undergraduate level are available. Post-baccalaureate teacher licensure is also offered, in addition to graduate programs in business, education, and counseling.
