March conference will look at Christian voting in the Northwest
TUALATIN — A Lake Oswego-based ministry seeking to increase Christian influence in the voting process will hold a major event in Tualatin next March designed to impact the entire Northwest.
David Crowe, executive director of Restore America, announced last month that the Restoring Northwest America conference will be March 3 and 4 at Rolling Hills Community Church, 3550 S.W. Borland Road.
According to Crowe, the conference will be the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and is designed to influence the 2006 elections in both Oregon and Washington.
Modeled after the D. James Kennedy Reclaiming America conference in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the Oregon conference has already attracted several nationally known speakers including Herb Titus, founding dean of the School of Law at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va.. Gary Cass, executive director of the Center for Reclaiming America; Rick Scarborough, president of Vision America, and Marshall Foster, president of the Mayflower Institute.
“The preservation of all that is right and honorable depends on Christians staying informed, mobilized, and engaged,” said Crowe. “Oregon’s Christians proved that in both 2004 and again in 2005 when they single-handedly put an initiative on the ballot to preserve traditional marriage, got it passed, and stopped Senate Bill 1000 in the current legislative session.”
Several more nationally known Christian leaders will attend to address how Christians can mobilize and make their values and voices more clearly heard and respected in the public square and in public policy.
Elected officials, state legislators, pastors, students and Christian leaders in Oregon and Washington will be invited to attend.
Cost will be $79 per attendee, with early registration discounts for pastors, families and students.
