Ministry provides speakers to evangelical women's groups
By SEAN MURPHY
PORTLAND -- Sister to Sister: Heart to Heart is a growing ministry serving Portland evangelical churches and organizations. The organization provides speakers to women’s groups at retreats and other special events.
Julie Johnson, the former director of services for the Portland Pregnancy Resource Center, founded the group after noticing that women’s ministries in the Portland area often had difficulty booking speakers for their annual events.
“I've been in women’s ministry for over 30 years and have noticed that whether it’s a retreat, dessert, dinner, or luncheon, we were always scrambling for a speaker.” Johnson said. “I began to consider the advantages of putting together a local speakers’ club comprised of godly women who feel that God has given them a message to share.”
The organization is currently composed of eight experienced Christian speakers and trainers including Johnson, Cheryl Baxter, Donna Hergert, Stefanie Hodder, Sue Newton, Becky Pamer, Athlynn Reeves, and Jan Ripley. Past messages have focused on such topics as abortion, grandparenting, blended families, and raising teens.
Sister to Sister: Heart to Heart does not charge for its services but gratefully accepts any donation that an organization is willing to give.
Churches and organizations interested in learning more about this ministry or about individual speakers should contact Johnson at 503-659-7377 or e-mail her at sistertosister@johnsonsforlife.com
