Multnomah founder's voice returns to radio

By RICHARD KOE
DALLAS, Ore. —Popular radio messages by the late John G. Mitchell, founder of Multnomah Bible College and Central Bible Church, returned to the airwaves on Sept. 7 after an absence of more than a decade.
Mitchell, originally from Canada, was known for his keen insight of the Bible in which he preached, taught, and wrote for many years in Tacoma, Wash., and Portland. Hundreds of past Multnomah students have sat under his expository teaching of God’s Word.
The board of directors of The Unchanging Word in an Ever Changing World, which obtained the rights to the Mitchell broadcasts from Multnomah, decided to begin broadcasting this fall with six months expenses available for radio time.
Ernie Ediger said the board is working with two stations in Portland and Salem to launch the broadcasts. K-Praise, KKPZ (AM 1330), began the first weekly program at 6 p.m. on Sept. 7. A station in the Seattle area is also interested in broadcasting the messages.
In the first three broadcasts Mitchell answered the question, “Why Study the Bible?” followed by his series on the Epistle to the Romans, which began on Sept. 28.
Ediger said all labor for the program is donated, and expenses include only air time and materials used in production.
The Unchanging Word appreciates any gift, either a one-time or monthly commitment. A tax-exempt receipt will be sent to all donors.
Prayer is requested for the nine-member board, for funds to keep the broadcasts on the air, and to add new radio outlets in the Pacific Northwest. Interested sponsors of the broadcasts are invited to contact Ediger at P.O. Box 398, Dallas, OR 97338, 877-623-8700.
