7,000 — Oregon’s biggest
pro-life rally ever
PORTLAND — Described by organizers as “far and away” the biggest pro-life rally ever in Oregon, the annual Roe vs. Wade Memorial gathering drew an estimated 7,000 people to Pioneer Courthouse Square Sunday, Jan. 18. Normally held in Salem with much smaller numbers, the turnout in the Rose City of concerned evangelicals and Catholics came despite recent political changes both statewide and nationally that challenge the pro-life effort. A consistent theme was that concerned Christians are more committed than ever and efforts to save lives from abortion will not be diminished. As one speaker, George Fox University student Jennifer Salame, stated: “We, the youngest members of this rally, are prepared to step into the arena and defend the most vulnerable among us.”
