Shepherd's Door shelter gets boost from Women of Faith
PORTLAND -- Shepherd's Door, Portland Rescue Mission’s state-of-the-art facility for helping homeless women in the Portland area, has been chosen by the national group Women of Faith as their local charity of choice this year. Women of Faith is sponsoring the Extraordinary Faith Conference on Aug. 12 and 13 at the Portland Rose Garden. The conference attracts approximately 15,000 women each year.
Portland Rescue Mission will receive $10 for every ticket purchased whenever participants use the Promotional Code PRMPDX when ordering tickets.
“We are honored to be chosen as the local charity of choice by Women of Faith,” said Jan Marshal, director of women’s ministries of Portland Rescue Mission. “This gives us a chance to highlight our Shepherd’s Door facility on a national stage.”
“Our Shepherd’s Door program offers much more than just a helping hand,” said Mike Maksinowicz, executive director of Portland Rescue Mission. “It offers the hope and compassion needed for our clients to grow, change and find new meaning in their lives.”
Shepherd’s Door is a program of the Portland Rescue Mission that works to break the cycle of homelessness for women and children in the Portland community. The Shepherd's Door facility assures a comfortable, safe and secure environment for families. The women and children at this facility participate in a two-year program that teaches job skills, personal growth and life-changing behaviors that lead to total life recovery.
