Coach couple training to resume
VANCOUVER, Wash. — The next round of training sessions for those willing to serve as “coach couples” in MarriageTeam ministry begins Jan. 19 runs through Jan. 28.
The sessions Jan. 19, 23 and 26 are 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Glad Tidings Church, 305 N.E. 192nd Ave. Sessions on Jan. 21 and 28 are 12:30 to 5 p.m., and on Jan. 20 and 27 they are 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Cost is $199 per couple if registered by Jan. 1, $225 after that date.
MarriageTeam provides couple coaching services as a faith-based outreach to the community. It is dedicated to empowering couples for winning marriages through coaching and skill building education.
Services are provided to couples by trained volunteer couples, much like Big Brother and Big Sister programs. MarriageTeam current provides:
• premarital coaching for engaged couples;
• enrichment coaching for couples wanting to improve their teamwork.
• coaching for couples who are experiencing significant conflict in their relationship;
• assistance in establishing MarriageTeam programs elsewhere.
“We have a staff of 15 volunteer coach couples and have the capacity to provide services to several more couples at this time,” said Al Ray, executive director. He seeks couples who live in the Portland-Vancouver area.
In October, nine couples completed 26 hours of coach training and a graduation ceremony was held at a Vancouver church.
