Effort aims to get Christians voting this fall

LAKE OSWEGO -- A local effort called "Restore America" seeks to reach every evangelical church in Oregon and this part of the Northwest to encourage Bible-believing Christians to take part in the upcoming nationwide vote and other future elections.

The effort's Fall 2000 Plan seeks a 100 percent voter registration by Christians and participation in the Nov. 7 election, which includes the presidential race as well as a near-record number of state initiative measures.

Another objective of Restore America,, a 501(c)(3) ministry founded by David Crowe of Lake Oswego to assist Christians in the restoration of America as a nation "under God," is what Crowe calls "informed, principled and sustained involvement in public life by Christians throughout America."

Oct. 17 is the last day eligible Oregonians may register to vote for the Nov. 7 election. Oregon law provides a 20-day "cutoff" for voter registration prior to the election.

Crowe says Restore America is the culmination of his 20 years of political involvement and observation, including presidential, senatorial and congressional campaigns; strategic and logistics planning; political consulting; interaction with pastors and Christian leaders; and grassroots political organization. Crowe says the ministry represents the counsel and wisdom of a broad array of concerned and serious Christians from many professions and walks of life.

The ministry formally commenced in June of 1999 in the Portland area after extensive biblical, historic and demographic research.

Information outlining what churches can and cannot do under the law, a slide introduction to the Restore America vision, and resources for implementation of 100 percent Christian voter registration and turnout are available to anyone interested.
