Foundation gives out $60,000 in honors

PORTLAND -- The Northwest Christian Com-munity Foundation gave out a total of $60,000 to 12 recipient organizations Feb. 9 at its third annual "Christian Servant Awards." on Feb. 9.

The awards luncheon was held at the Lloyd Center Double Tree Inn; presentation of the awards was hosted by KATU Channel 2 news anchor Paul Linnman. According to Mike Stice, the foundation's executive director, the awards seek to recognize individuals who exemplify service and humility in their work for the Lord.

Individuals receiving the Christian Service Awards, and $5,000 each for their organizations, were:

-- Maj. Neal Hogan, the Salvation Army;
-- Marie Davis, field volunteer, Northwest Medical Teams;
-- Clarence Brenne-man, local representative for The Jesus Film Project
-- Don and Barb Kas-sebaum, full-time workers with Forward Edge

International;

-- Jeff Hart, evangelist with Search Ministries Inc.;
-- Sheila K. Hair, teacher and counselor with Good Samaritan Ministries;
-- Evelyn H. Barker, volunteer for Puppets and Praise;
-- Beryl Woodward, volunteer for George Fox University;
-- Jim Hill, principal, East Linn Christian Academy;
-- Linda A. Smith, founder of Shared Hope International;
-- Dr. Leroy Dominy, founder of Christian Veterinary Mission; and
-- John A. Fazio, Ph.D., Warner Pacific College professor who volunteers for Northwest Medical Teams Inc.

Other nominees recognized in a special booklet distributed at the foundation's awards luncheon were:
